YouTube Surgeon

👋🏻 Hey folks, my name is Amir Ketabchi and on this site and its sister YouTube channel I pass on what I know and what has worked for me to help medical students and young doctors succeed.

They represent the Venn diagram intersection of a few of my interests:

  • Teaching

  • Geeking out with tech especially the latest Apple shiny, and also

  • Paying it forward and sending the ladder down to encourage, inspire, mentor and generally help with the overwhelm and overload of medical school and early years of doctoring

When not doing any of the above my day job is a consultant surgeon and I am based in the UK.

I have been teaching and training medical students and young doctors for nearly two decades, both formally and informally. I am recognised as a trainer by the UK’s register and regulator of doctors, the GMC.

I hope the videos on my YouTube channel and the occasional musings here on my blog are of interest to you, especially if you are a medical student (or an aspiring one) or a trainee doctor in your Foundation, Core or Specialty years.

Online I am an independent content creator, and this is a side hustle for me. The content here, on YouTube and other social media represent my views only, not those of any medical school or employer, and I am responsible for all the content.

I appreciate any feedback or suggestions and I would love to hear from you here.
